About The Position
Petco Veterinary Services is hiring a relief veterinarian for Vetco Total Care, its full-service veterinary hospitals. The hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Facilities include digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and equipped surgery suites with heated hydraulic surgery tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Licensed and trained hospital staff support care delivery. The role does not require overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Relief veterinarians can use flexible online scheduling to choose weekday and weekend shifts, with no minimum or maximum shift requirement. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift, may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and pay no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow, while trained staff handle hospital operations. Petco provides monthly clinic updates and a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Ohio state bid rates average $106–$133 per hour; shift rates may vary by clinic location and shift duration.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
- DEA registration in good standing for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts.
- Professional Liability Insurance and a license defense policy.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
