About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians flexible shifts at Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Relief veterinarians can use online scheduling to choose shifts that suit their lifestyle, with no minimum or maximum shift requirement and weekday and weekend hours available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift, may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and are not charged agency fees. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports veterinarians leaving on time, while trained hospital staff handle operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Hospitals have digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and equipped surgery suites with heated hydraulic surgery tables and full anesthesia monitoring. The role does not include overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Petco also provides a monthly newsletter with clinic news, policy updates, and product announcements, and a 15% discount on Petco products and services.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
DEA registration in good standing for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts.
Professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.
Comply with all local, state, and federal mandates.
