About The Position

The Rehabilitation Technician supports the rehabilitation team by carrying out patient care activities as directed by an occupational therapist (OTR) or physical therapist (RPT). The role includes safe patient transport, preparing treatment areas and equipment, and observing patient responses to treatment. The technician communicates with therapists and team members, follows written and verbal instructions, and helps maintain a safe, organized environment that promotes patient outcomes.

The position works under the direction and supervision of licensed therapists within established policies and procedures. It also involves maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of therapy areas, equipment, and supplies, and following safety, infection prevention, and patient privacy standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR certification, as required.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Patient transport and safe lifting techniques, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Observation and basic documentation skills.
• Reliability, teamwork, and time management.

Nice To Haves

• Six to twelve months of relevant experience in a rehabilitation setting is strongly recommended.

Responsibilities

• Follow patient care tasks determined by the OTR/RPT to help patients achieve therapy goals.
• Safely transport patients to and from therapy and other activities.
• Communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with members of the rehabilitation team.
• Observe and recognize patient reactions to treatment and follow instructions accurately.
• Lift and carry equipment, supplies, and materials up to 50 pounds regularly, using proper body mechanics.
• Maintain the cleanliness and readiness of therapy areas, equipment, and supplies.
• Adhere to safety, infection prevention, and patient privacy standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
