About The Position
This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Principles of Sociology (SOC1101 C00) during the Fall 2026 semester. The course is an introduction to the principal fields, concepts, and methods of sociological analysis, including sociology and other social sciences, critical thinking, intellectual work techniques, and the craft of the sociologist. It is intended primarily for students not enrolled in a sociology program. The course will be taught in English and will have an expected enrollment of 350 students. The schedule includes Monday from 8:30-10:00 and Thursday from 10:00-11:30, with online synchronous delivery.
Requirements
- M.A. in sociology or more advanced training in sociology.
- Demonstrable track record of expertise in the field Principles of Sociology, evidenced by previous teaching experience in the same or similar course or through publications in the field.
- Competence in a second language (passive).

- An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach Principles of Sociology (SOC1101 C00) during the Fall 2026 semester.
- Deliver course content including introduction to sociological analysis, concepts, methods, sociology and other social sciences, critical thinking, intellectual work techniques, and the craft of the sociologist.
- Conduct online synchronous classes on Mondays and Thursdays.
- Manage an expected enrollment of 350 students.
- Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
