About The Position

The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) at the Faculty of Arts is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor for the course ESL2121: Creating Meaning: Reading to Improve Writing Skills. This course focuses on expanding reading and writing skills for general and academic purposes, using a variety of text types as a basis for effective writing. It involves developing reading and writing strategies, critical reading skills, and refining sentence structures while enriching vocabulary. The expected enrollment is 30 students, and the course is worth 3 credits.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in teaching English as a second language, or a discipline relevant to English as a second language teaching.
  • Two years of experience teaching ESL at the university level, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with software and technologies relevant to teach English as a second language.
  • A professor who has taught an FLS / ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018 is considered to meet the diploma requirement.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
