About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach ESL2121 - Creating Meaning: Reading to Improve Writing Skills during the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Ottawa's Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI). The course focuses on expanding reading and writing skills for general and academic purposes, using various text types as a basis for effective writing. It involves developing reading and writing strategies, critical reading skills, refining sentence structures, and enriching vocabulary. The course will be delivered in a hybrid format with some in-person sessions.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in teaching English as a second language, or a discipline relevant to English as a second language teaching.
  • Two years of experience teaching ESL at the university level, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with software and technologies relevant to teach English as a second language.
  • Competence in English instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • A professor who has taught an FLS / ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018 is considered to meet the diploma requirement.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
