This course provides a broad overview of the philosophical and scientific background of psychology, focusing on its epistemology, the birth of Western psychology, and its subsequent development. It covers best practices and prominent contributors across cultures and demographic groups, research abuses of vulnerable populations that led to contemporary ethical considerations, and efforts to make psychology more inclusive, equitable, and generalizable to a diverse world. This is a lecture-based course.
