About The Position

The Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach History and Systems of Psychology (PSY4130, Section C00) for the Fall 2026 semester. This course provides a broad overview of the philosophical and scientific background of psychology, including its epistemology, the birth of Western psychology, and its subsequent development. It will cover best practices and prominent contributors across cultures and demographic groups, research abuses of vulnerable populations, and efforts to make psychology more inclusive, equitable, and generalizable. The course component is a lecture, and it is offered in person.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology
  • Advanced knowledge of the course content area.
  • Competence in a second language (Passive).

  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach History and Systems of Psychology (PSY4130, Section C00).
  • Maintain the originally assigned mode of course delivery (in-person).
  • Inform the School of Psychology Secretariat promptly if a class needs to be canceled.
  • Arrange for a suitable replacement instructor in advance of any known absence.
