About The Position

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Economics at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Introduction to Microeconomics (ECO1104F) during the Fall 2026 semester. This course covers the nature and scope of economics, scarcity and choice, market mechanisms, demand and supply, elasticity, consumer behavior, firm decisions, production functions, cost curves, pricing, perfect competition, monopoly, price discrimination, government regulation, factor pricing, comparative advantage, and related case studies and applications. The expected enrollment is 350 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The language of instruction is English.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Economics.
  • Demonstrate recent professional experience as an economist in the public, para-public, or private sectors related to the course content.
  • Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Introduction to Microeconomics (ECO1104F) during the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Cover topics including the nature and scope of economics, scarcity and choice, market mechanisms, demand and supply, elasticity, consumer behavior, firm decisions, production functions, cost curves, pricing, perfect competition, monopoly, price discrimination, government regulation, factor pricing, comparative advantage, and related case studies and applications.
  • Conduct classes on Mondays from 14:30 to 16:00 and Thursdays from 16:00 to 17:30.
