About The Position

The Faculty of Arts, Department of Communication is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach CMN5100-B00, Research Methods, during the Fall 2026 semester. This course focuses on research design and methods relevant to Master's thesis or research paper projects. The course will be offered online and is scheduled for Tuesdays from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The expected enrollment is 30 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The hourly rate for teaching is $239.47 (2024-2025 rates), which does not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Communication or a related field.
• Experience in research.
• Evidence of scholarly publications in the field of communication.
• Evidence of an excellent knowledge of a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods (phone and internet surveys, focus groups, interviews and discourse analysis).
• Evidence of an excellent knowledge of SPSS and other analytical software.
• Evidence of an excellent knowledge of scholarly activity (e.g. conference presentations).
• Evidence of an excellent knowledge of academic writing.
• Evidence of an excellent capacity to teach at the university level.

• An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
