About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Introduction to Qualitative Methodology (SOC2315, Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester. The course will cover the historical overview of qualitative inquiry techniques and research paradigms, introduction to different approaches and the iterative principle of qualitative research. It will include a practical introduction to common data production methods such as interviews, observation, and document/media analysis, along with their organization and preliminary analysis. Emphasis will be placed on rigor criteria, ethical issues, and researcher reflexivity in qualitative research.

Requirements

  • M.A. in sociology and completed sociology Ph.D. coursework or a more advanced training in sociology.
  • Demonstrable track record of expertise in the field of qualitative studies in the form of previous teaching experience in the same or similar course or through publications in the field.
  • Demonstrate a practical knowledge of NVivo and the ability to teach it.
  • Competence in English (language of instruction).

  • Teach Introduction to Qualitative Methodology (SOC2315, Section A00).
  • Provide practical introduction to common data production methods, their organization and preliminary analysis.
  • Teach criteria of rigor in qualitative research, ethical issues and the reflexivity of the researcher.
