Sentara offers a newly graduated Registered Nurse with less than 12 months of experience, a Nurse Residency Program that can give you the skills and support you need to make a successful transition into your professional practice. The program offers automatic enrollment for all newly hired graduate nurses at all 12 Sentara hospitals. After orientation, begin your Residency right away with 6-months of hands-on experience alongside trained preceptors in 6 areas: Medical-Surgical, Intermediate Care, Critical Care, Emergency, Operating Room, and Women's Health. Topics covered include career pathing, professional development, leadership, self-care, and stress management. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program
  • Current Virginia RN license or eligibility to obtain one
  • Graduating soon or graduated with less than one year of RN practice

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse.
  • Participate in a 6-month Nurse Residency Program with hands-on experience.
  • Engage in training on topics such as career pathing, professional development, leadership, self-care, and stress management.
