About The Position

This posting supports all new grad Registered Nursing positions at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, Virginia. All statuses/shifts are available across all units currently placing new graduate Registered Nurses. Sentara offers a Nurse Residency Program for newly graduated Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of experience, providing the skills and support needed for a successful transition into professional practice. The program includes automatic enrollment for all newly hired graduate nurses, available at all 12 Sentara hospitals. After orientation, residents begin 6 months of hands-on experience with trained preceptors in Medical-Surgical, Intermediate Care, Critical Care, Emergency, Operating Room, and Women's Health. Topics covered include career pathing, professional development, leadership, self-care, and stress management. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited RN program
Current Virginia RN license or eligibility to obtain one
Graduating soon or graduated with less than one year of RN practice

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse.
Participate in a 6-month Nurse Residency Program with hands-on experience in various units.
Engage in learning topics such as career pathing, professional development, leadership, self-care, and stress management.
Collaborate with preceptors and hiring managers.
