RN - Registered Nurse - CVICU - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at UAB St. Vincent’s East. The 8-bed unit specializes in post-operative care for patients recovering from coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and other complex cardiovascular surgeries. Nurses have the opportunity to work with advanced cardiac support devices and procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring, while delivering high-quality care. This position is for experienced registered nurses. The schedule is full-time days, three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The role is based at UAB St. Vincent’s East.
Requirements
- Experienced registered nurse.
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
- Required professional licensure at the time of hire.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
- Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
