About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at UAB St. Vincent’s East, an 8-bed unit specializing in postoperative care for patients recovering from coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and other complex cardiovascular surgeries. The role offers the opportunity to work with advanced cardiac support devices and procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring, while delivering high-quality patient care. This position is for experienced registered nurses. The listed schedule is full-time days, three 12-hour shifts, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Requirements

• Experienced registered nurse; this posting is for experienced RNs only.
• Alabama Board of Nursing Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential, obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
• Required professional licensure at the time of hire.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary coordinator of disciplines involved in well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
