RN - Registered Nurse - CVICU - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Registered Nurse works in the 17-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham, providing specialized care to critically ill patients recovering from complex cardiothoracic, vascular, and cardiac procedures. The fast-paced unit supports professional growth through collaboration with the care team, continuing education, and leadership development. Available schedules include part-time nights, PRN nights, and full-time nights, with shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The nurse provides direct care in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and protocols; implements and monitors patient care plans; observes, records, and communicates patient condition; coordinates care across disciplines; carries out physician and nursing orders; and coordinates discharge planning with the healthcare team.
Requirements
- BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer.
- Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer.
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before hire or job transfer.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
- Required professional nursing licensure at time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
