RN - Registered Nurse - CICU - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care in the 12-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at UAB St. Vincent’s East. The unit cares for patients of all ages with complex heart and pulmonary conditions. This is a fast-paced clinical environment that uses cutting-edge technology and offers flexible scheduling and a supportive team. The role is available as a full-time day or night schedule, each consisting of three 12-hour shifts. UAB St. Vincent’s is part of UAB Medicine and serves Alabama through five hospitals and numerous clinics. Requirements
- Hold an active Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing before the hire date or job transfer date.
- Have a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and the required professional licensure at the time of hire.
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Obtain Advanced Life Support certification within 180 days of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge-planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
