About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse position for the Emergency Department in Middlebury, Vermont. The assignment is for 26 weeks, starting on October 12, 2026. The role involves providing direct patient care in a hospital Emergency Department setting, serving patients from newborn to geriatric. The position requires flexibility with holiday requirements and the ability to work in a high-volume ED, potentially including rural or CAH settings. The nurse will utilize the EPIC electronic medical record and Pyxis medication system, and support Telemedicine and Telestroke consultations. The role also includes maintaining readiness for trauma, STEMI, and stroke transports, and adhering to unit procedures and hospital policies.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the United States (ability to obtain Vermont licensure or hold active license)
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, TNCC required; TNCC or proof of class with date applied must be in packet; NIHSS required prior to start
  • Minimum 2 years of in-unit RN experience
  • 2 years in the ED or equivalent specialty
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment
  • EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years required
  • Ability to work in a high-volume ED, including rural or CAH settings
  • Flexible with holiday requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Eligible to sit NCLEX and obtain RN licensure

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department for newborn to geriatric populations, including assessment, monitoring, and timely intervention
  • Perform triage, IV starts, venipuncture, medication administration, drips/infusions, and EKGs; ensure patient safety and comfort
  • Collaborate with charge nurse, physicians, and mid-level providers; participate in care planning and patient handoffs
  • Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record and Pyxis medication system; support Telemedicine and Telestroke consultations as available
  • Assist with patient transports and escalation to higher levels of care as needed; apply ED protocols and ESI triage actions
  • Maintain readiness for trauma, STEMI, and stroke transports; follow unit procedures and hospital policies
