About The Position
The registered professional nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of assigned patients and for supervising assigned personnel. The role requires knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to nursing care. Interpretive, interactive, consultative, management, and supervisory skills are inherent in the position. The ability to retrieve, communicate, or present information in written, auditory, or visual formats is essential. Spoken communication is the primary method of exchanging ideas; written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are also required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- One year of nursing or patient-care experience in an acute care setting.
- Virginia Department of Health Professions Registered Nurse license or compact-state nursing license.
- BLS certification required; current ACLS or PALS certification may satisfy the BLS requirement.
- ACLS certification required for CVICU nurses. New-to-practice-area nurses or new graduates have one year to complete specialty requirements.
