About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, using outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the RN coordinates care and communicates and collaborates extensively with other healthcare team members, patients, and patients’ families or significant others. The role requires maintaining high standards of professional ethics. This is a part-time, on-site role at Virtua’s Voorhees location, with a 12-hour day shift from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The position requires maternal-child health (MCH) or obstetrics (OB) experience and a valid New Jersey RN license.

Requirements

Maternal-child health (MCH) or obstetrics (OB) experience.
Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Valid New Jersey RN license, which must be presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey Licensing Board.
Ongoing education to maintain and improve nursing skills and stay current with nursing practice.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimens.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
Participate in clinical decision-making.
Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety issues.
Delegate and monitor care provided by other members of the nursing department and healthcare team.
Apply standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
Participate in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental competencies.
