About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the NICU assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the RN coordinates care and communicates and collaborates extensively with healthcare colleagues, patients, and patients’ families or significant others. The role requires maintaining high standards of professional ethics. This is a part-time, on-site position at Virtua Health’s Voorhees location, scheduled for a 12-hour day shift from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., totaling 24 hours per week. Level 3 NICU experience is required.

Requirements

Level 3 NICU experience.
Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Valid New Jersey RN license, which must be presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey Licensing Board.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimens.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
Participate in clinical decision-making.
Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety.
Delegate and monitor care provided by other nursing department and healthcare team members.
Demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
Participate in the orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental competencies.
