About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the NICU is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the RN coordinates patient care and communicates and collaborates extensively with team members, patients, and patients’ families or significant others. The role requires maintaining high standards of professional ethics and requires Level 3 NICU experience.

Requirements

Level 3 NICU experience.
Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Valid New Jersey RN license; approved licenses must be presented and maintained in accordance with the New Jersey Licensing Board.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimens.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
Participate in clinical decision-making.
Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety.
Delegate and monitor care provided by other members of the nursing department and healthcare team.
Demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
Participate in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental competencies.
