About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in the Medical Surgical Department using the nursing process and following applicable scope and standards of practice. The role is based at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, North Carolina, and is scheduled PRN days. The Medical-Surgical service includes a 25-bed medical unit caring for patients with varied conditions and a 12-bed surgical unit caring for pre- and post-operative patients.

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact license.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
At least one year of experience.
If relocating, update licensure to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.

Nice To Haves

PALS certification.
ACLS certification.
Handle with Care certification.

Responsibilities

Perform plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
Document patient care and monitor patient condition, communicating with the care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Coordinate patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
Provide patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
Advocate for patients’ physical and emotional well-being.
Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
