About The Position
The Registered Nurse Med Surg Neuro role is based at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the Med Surg Neuro department. This part-time, weekend position provides compassionate, evidence-based care to patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, and surgeries. The nurse coordinates care with physicians, therapists, and families; monitors patients for changes in clinical status; and supports patients and families through education and discharge planning. Applicants must have a nursing diploma from an accredited school or college, or the required professional licensure at the time of hire. A Wisconsin Board of Nursing RN credential, or a current home-state license for applicants considered multi-state/Compact State, is required before hire or transfer. BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required within 30 days of hire or transfer. New graduate RNs are welcome to apply.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse credential from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing before hire or transfer, or a current home-state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.

Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, and surgeries.
- Coordinate care among physicians, therapists, patients, and families to support a seamless and safe recovery.
- Monitor and interpret patients’ clinical status and identify changes that may require rapid intervention.
- Educate patients and families and plan for discharge to support a successful transition home.
