The RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in accordance with the organization’s patient-care standards, including standards for patient assessment and transfer. The role requires flexibility to float to departments and sites according to the hiring tier and competency. Assignments may include day-of staffing, more than one location during a shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns. The nurse participates as a member of the healthcare team in cooperation with and under the direction of a clinical manager or designee, within the relevant Registered Nurse Standards and Scope of Practice. This is a Tier 1 position, with floating expected within a single site based on competency. The nurse supports organizational, departmental, and operating-unit goals; participates in continuous quality improvement; advocates for patient safety; and incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery. The nurse plans and coordinates care and clinical decisions using available evidence, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, evaluates responses to interventions, and documents care appropriately for the patient’s condition and age.
