About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Float Pool at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, floating among multiple units and specialties. The role delivers safe patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation; guides patient and family teaching and the activities of other nursing personnel; responds to changes in patients’ conditions and treatment responses; helps maintain a safe environment; and communicates clinical changes and relevant monitoring and diagnostic information to physicians. The position is full-time, working nights in 12-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available to qualified candidates, subject to eligibility and payout terms.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate from ARC or AHA upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• Current ACLS certificate from ARC or AHA within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Current PALS certificate from ARC or AHA within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter, when floating into the E.R., O.R., PACU, or Day Patient areas.
• NRP and Basic Fetal Monitoring or AWHONN certification within 90 days for employees floating to Women’s Services.
• TNCC within 12 months of hire for employees floating to the Emergency Department.
• Ability to float to two or more units and maintain competency in assigned areas.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Direct and guide patient and family teaching and the activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patients’ conditions or responses to treatment.
• Provide a safe environment for patients and visitors.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patients’ clinical conditions, including cardiac monitoring, diagnostic study results, and symptoms.
• Float to two or more units and maintain competency in assigned areas.
