About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients in the Med Surg department in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. This full-time position is based at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham, with day and night schedules listed as 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The nurse implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and communicates patient conditions, coordinates care across disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and coordinates discharge planning with the healthcare team. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available for full-time positions. Requirements

• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
• Professional licensure at the time of hire.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
