RN - Registered Nurse - Med Surg - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Registered Nurse will provide direct nursing care on 3 West, a 32-bed acute care medical-surgical unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham. The unit cares for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including stroke, offering nurses an opportunity to build foundational skills. The hospital is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center, with a team focused on high-quality, evidence-based stroke care in a supportive environment. The role is available as full-time or part-time, with day or night shifts. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available for full-time positions. Requirements
- Hold, or be eligible to obtain, Registered Nurse licensure from the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Hold a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and professional licensure at the time of hire.
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
