About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The position is with 7 Main, a 24-bed acute care unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham that cares for patients with general medical conditions, including respiratory illnesses, sepsis, diabetes, hypertension, and recovery from embolisms. The unit offers a supportive environment for nurses to develop their skills, with resources for collaboration and professional growth.

Full-time and part-time shifts are available on days or nights, from 7 to 7. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available for full-time positions. Benefits for eligible positions include paid time off, paid parental leave, an Associate Assistance Program, and tuition reimbursement.

Requirements

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
• Professional licensure at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care according to established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Coordinate care as the primary coordinator among disciplines.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
