About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care on 7 Main, a 24-bed acute care unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham. The unit cares for patients with general medical conditions, including respiratory illnesses, sepsis, diabetes, and hypertension, as well as patients recovering from embolisms. Nurses work in a supportive environment with leadership and resources for collaboration and professional growth.

Available schedules are full-time or part-time, days or nights, with shifts listed as 7 to 7. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available for full-time positions.

Requirements

• Obtain BLS Provider certification within 1 month (30 days) of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Be currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Have a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and professional licensure at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge-planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
