About The Position

Provides direct patient care in the Medical Surgical Department using the nursing process and in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The role is at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, North Carolina, and reports to the Director or Manager of the Medical Surgical Department. The medical-surgical units care for patients with a range of medical conditions and provide pre- and post-operative care, including in orthopedics, urology, and general surgery.

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact license.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
At least one year of experience.
If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.

Nice To Haves

PALS certification.
ACLS certification.
Handle with Care certification.

Responsibilities

Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with the care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
