About The Position

The Registered Nurse position is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University of Vermont Medical Center’s Main Campus, within Vermont Children’s Hospital. The NICU is a 20-bed Level III unit and a 9-bed Level II Transition Unit that provides care to critically ill infants born within the health system. NICU orientation is thorough, and mentorship is well supported. The work emphasizes a collaborative, collegial team approach. After two years, NICU RNs train to join a Health Net Transfer Team, which transports infants requiring NICU care throughout Vermont and upstate New York. This is a bargaining union position. On-call is not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to critically ill infants in the NICU and Level II Transition Unit.
• After two years, train to become part of the Health Net Transfer Team, transporting infants requiring NICU care throughout Vermont and upstate New York.
