About The Position

The Registered Nurse works on the 4th Floor Med/Surg Unit at St Mary’s Health Care System in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. The 28-bed unit cares for postoperative surgical and general medical-surgical patients and is partnered with virtual nurses as a TogetherTeam unit. The RN delivers evidence-based, individualized care and facilitates all aspects of the patient visit experience, with attention to the whole person—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Under limited supervision, the RN assesses patients and develops, evaluates, and modifies care plans. The nurse interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures within their expertise and is accountable for the care of a group of patients during a designated time frame. Using therapeutic communication, the nursing process, the care environment and technology, and collaboration with healthcare team members, the RN provides care according to established standards and works with the Care Team and Support Team to achieve patient outcomes identified in the pathway or plan of care. This Weekend Option Baylor position offers weekend day or weekend night shifts. The schedule is 24 hours of work paid as 36 hours. Benefits are available on the first day of employment.
