About The Position

Texas Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Medical Surgical Department at Texas Health Allen. The 25-bed unit is a fast-paced, high-volume department caring for post-surgery patients, including orthopedic, spine, plastic, and general surgery patients, as well as general medical overflow patients. The professional nurse exhibits an understanding of basic human needs and delivers care using the Nursing Process. The role is PRN on days, with work scheduled as needed. Rotating weekends and holidays are required. The nurse provides continuity of care across shifts and hospitals and while facilitating out-of-hospital transfers.

Requirements

Nursing diploma or associate degree from an accredited nursing program.
One year of experience as a registered nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
RN – Registered Nurse credential required upon hire.
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support required before providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training required within 60 days.
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support required within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
One year of medical-surgical experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
Assess patients.
Plan patient care.
Intervene as appropriate.
Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporate age-specific safety and infection-control measures into patient care.
Initiate action to meet patients’ and significant others’ information needs.
Maintain continuity of patient care between shifts and hospitals and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers.
