About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Freestanding ER provides, promotes, and maintains quality patient care during diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures through education, standards of practice, professional growth, and collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare providers. The nurse develops and documents care plans, provides age-specific patient interventions, responds to emergencies, verifies orders and related procedural documentation, and follows medication and IV therapy policies.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Nursing.
• Monitor experience or completion of an EKG course.
• Valid permanent Multi-State RN License from the state of residence. Applicants holding an RN license from another Compact state must apply for and obtain a Multi-State RN License from their state of residence within 30 days.
• American Heart Association BLS CPR, to be obtained within 7 days of hire.
• American Heart Association ACLS and PALS, CPI, and NIHSS, required within the orientation period.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in acute care, critical care, or an emergency department.
• ENPC, TNCC, or CEN certification.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and document a written plan of care within the specified timeframe.
• Perform patient interventions completely and proficiently, demonstrating age-specific competency for the patient population served.
• Provide appropriate treatment in emergency situations.
• Verify orders for accuracy during hospitalization, including medication reconciliation, appropriate scheduling of tests and procedures, preoperative data, and consent forms.
• Follow medication and IV therapy policies, including patient identification, medication education and administration, and recognizing and reporting interactions.
• Monitor first-dose medications appropriately for adverse reactions.
• Perform related duties as required.
