About The Position

This is a 13-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse specializing in Telemetry, located in Olathe, Kansas. The role is within a short-term acute care setting, specifically on a Cardiac Telemetry unit. The position requires the nurse to monitor telemetry patients, interpret rhythm trends, respond to alarms, administer and adjust cardiac medications, support post-procedure care, and accurately document in the electronic health record. The nurse will collaborate with physicians and other staff to ensure patient safety and compliance with unit policies. Flexibility to float to other acute care units is also expected.

Requirements

  • Current Kansas RN license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Telemetry experience
  • Experience with cardiac infusions and medications (e.g., heparin, Lasix, Cardizem) and initiation of Tikosyn/Sotalol
  • Strong ability to work 12-hour night shifts, with every-other weekend rotation and holiday coverage as required
  • Ability to work in a high-acuity telemetry setting; EPIC EMR experience or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • RN program graduate; eligible for licensure in Kansas

Nice To Haves

  • 2–5 years of Telemetry experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor telemetry patients, interpret rhythm trends, and respond to alarms with appropriate escalation per unit protocol.
  • Administer and adjust cardiac medications and infusions per protocol, including use of common telemetry meds (e.g., heparin infusions, diuretics, antiarrhythmic initiation such as Tikosyn/Sotalol) and related interventions.
  • Support post-procedure care and use arterial closure devices (TR Band) as applicable; coordinate with the care team for safety and accuracy of medication administration.
  • Perform accurate documentation in the electronic health record, including assessments, medications, procedures, and patient education; coordinate with cardiology and other disciplines as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and telemetry staff to ensure patient safety, timely interventions, and compliance with unit policies.
  • Flex to float to other acute care units as needed to meet patient care demands.
