About The Position

Hartford Hospital is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse for its 16-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit. The unit cares for patients with complex, highly acute medical conditions, including respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver or kidney injury or failure, sepsis, and drug or alcohol withdrawal. It operates 24 hours a day under the supervision of a Critical Care Pulmonologist and is staffed by Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, and medical house staff physicians, including interns and residents. The RN provides skilled bedside care and contributes to high-quality, compassionate care. Nurses work in a fast-paced environment that calls for critical thinking, broad medical knowledge, clear communication, and a wide range of clinical skills. The position is based at Hartford Hospital, 79 Jefferson St, HH Bliss Wing, and is a permanent night-shift role scheduled for 36 hours per week, including every other weekend and every other holiday.

Requirements

Current Connecticut RN license.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN required.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association required before the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one year of acute care Registered Nurse experience is strongly preferred.
In exceptional circumstances, experienced RNs with an ADN/ASN who are pursuing a BSN or MSN may be considered.
Graduate Nurses are encouraged to apply through the Critical Care Graduate Nurse Program.
