About The Position

St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a full-time Inpatient Rehabilitation Registered Nurse. The nurse provides specialized care to patients recovering from acute or chronic illnesses, injuries, or surgeries that require rehabilitation services. The role helps patients regain independence, improve physical and functional abilities, and adapt to changes in their health. The position works 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter; preferred.
• Previous acute care hospital experience; preferred.
• Ventilator management experience; preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients recovering from conditions such as strokes, spinal cord or brain injuries, orthopedic surgeries, amputations, chronic diseases, and other conditions.
• Monitor patients’ medical status, vital signs, and responses to rehabilitation therapies; administer medications, manage IVs, and provide wound care as needed.
• Assist patients with exercises, mobility training, and activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and eating, in coordination with physical and occupational therapists.
• Teach patients to use assistive devices such as walkers, prosthetics, and wheelchairs.
• Educate patients and families about rehabilitation goals, treatment plans, and long-term care strategies.
• Participate in discharge planning to prepare patients for a safe transition home or to another care setting.
