About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Phoenix, AZ. The contract is for 26 weeks, starting on 09/28/2026, with guaranteed 36 hours per week. The weekly pay range is $2,602–$2,692. The shift is 3x12 rotating, with the exact schedule to be determined during the interview. This assignment may require floating between the NICU and PICU across multiple metro-area locations and is managed through ShiftWise Flex for compliance, billing, and assignment management.

Requirements

  • Current State of Arizona RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges, or ability to establish licensure per Arizona law prior to start date.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association)
  • PALS (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in pediatric CVICU.
  • Experience floating to NICU and PICU.
  • ADN, BSN, or Diploma in Nursing.
  • Must be able to start on 09/28/2026 and complete the 26-week contract.

Nice To Haves

  • NRP preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital with Level III or IV NICU strongly preferred.
  • Children’s hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to pediatric patients in PICU, including assessment, monitoring, and interventions per the plan of care and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based care and adjust plans as patient conditions change.
  • Monitor critical patient status, manage appropriate medications, and support ventilator or vasoactive infusions as indicated.
  • Document patient status and progress accurately, ensure accurate handoffs, and participate in family education and discharge planning as appropriate.
  • Float between NICU and PICU as needed, adapting to unit-specific protocols while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards, and uphold professional nursing practice across shifting environments.
