About The Position

This is a 13-week contract position for a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The unit sees high acuity cases including injury, respiratory failure, shock, multi-system failure, poisonings, near drowning, meningitis, post-operative cardiac surgical care, and neurosurgery. The role functions at the Standard Level of nursing practice. The position requires flexibility with shifts (variable day/night or straight nights) and a willingness to work holidays. The contract is for 13 weeks, with the possibility of extension, but only the first 13 weeks will be at the winter rate. Requirements

  • 2 full years of recent independent PICU experience.
  • PICU experience must be within the last year, not including orientation time.
  • Experience with at least a 10-bed PICU unit.
  • BLS certification.
  • PALS certification.
  • Experience with ventilators.
  • Experience with multiple monitors, specifically CVP and EKG.
  • Must have a CA license.
  • Must be available to work weekends with full flexibility.
  • Must work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
  • Must be flexible to work whatever 2 holidays the unit needs.
  • RTO restrictions: 7 days RTO max, need to still get in 3 shifts that week.
  • Locals are not accepted.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers at least 1 travel assignment.
  • Willing to float between units (CVPICU & NICU).

Responsibilities

  • Provide care at the Standard Level of nursing practice.
  • Care for patients with high acuity conditions including injury, respiratory failure, shock, multi-system failure, poisonings, near drowning, meningitis, post-operative cardiac surgical care, and neurosurgery.
  • Operate ventilators and multiple monitors, specifically CVP and EKG.
  • Work variable shifts (day/night or straight nights).
  • Work weekends and holidays as required, including 2 out of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
  • Float between CVPICU and NICU units as needed.
  • Float within scope to meet facility needs.
  • Complete charting in Epic.
  • Be available for a November 9th start date.
