About The Position
This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a hospital in Rochester, New York. The unit provides Medical/Surgical and step-down care (PCU/DOU/IMC) on a 12-bed unit with 1:3 patient ratios. The assignment is for a temporary, travel-based role measured in weeks, with a start date of 11/02/2026. The shift is a 3x12 Night shift, with weekly pay ranging from $2,221 to $2,361. Guaranteed hours are not guaranteed.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license in hand to submit
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience
- EPIC charting experience required
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- Phlebotomy and IV start/maintenance experience required
- Ability to work on a 12-bed PCU/Step-down unit, with float to Medical/Surgical; comfortable with 1:3 ratios and 3x12 night shifts
- Candidates within 75 miles of the assignment location are not accepted
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to adults and geriatrics on a PCU/step-down unit, including telemetry monitoring
- Recognize and respond to decompensation; manage sepsis and DKA with IV insulin protocols as appropriate
- Provide respiratory support needs (BiPAP, high-flow, vent/trach care) and manage PCA pumps; basic wound care; central/peripheral line care
- Initiate and maintain IV access, perform phlebotomy, and administer prescribed medications
- Document thoroughly in EPIC and participate in rounds with the interdisciplinary team; coordinate with Respiratory Therapy, PT, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Work, and Rapid Response as needed
- Maintain 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratios, participate in EOW weekend coverage, and float to Medical/Surgical as required
