About The Position

This is a travel temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Atlanta, GA. The role is in an inpatient hospital setting focused on a medical step-down unit. The assignment is for 13 weeks with guaranteed hours of 48 per week. The shift is 2x4 Days.

Requirements

Active RN license.
Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient experience in a medical step-down or similar acute care setting.
ACLS and BLS certifications.
Ability to work in a fast-paced inpatient environment with a patient-to-nurse ratio of up to 1:4.
Strong clinical assessment skills and effective communication within an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Provide direct, ongoing nursing care to adults in a medical step-down unit, addressing conditions such as sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, CKD, and other acute medical concerns.
Monitor patient status, perform routine and focused assessments, chart progress, and respond promptly to changes in condition.
Administer medications and treatments, manage intravenous lines and monitors, and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team on diploma-driven orders and care plans.
Implement evidence-based protocols (e.g., sepsis management, respiratory support, hemodynamic monitoring) and adjust care plans as needed.
Document nursing care and patient responses in the medical record; communicate clearly with physicians, case managers, and family when appropriate.
Maintain patient safety and comfort, including fall prevention, pain management, and heart/respiratory support as required.
