About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Plattsburgh, NY. The role is in an acute inpatient hospital setting and requires the nurse to float to appropriate units as needed. The assignment is for 6 weeks, starting on 09/17/2026, with a shift of 12-hour day shifts (3x12). The pay range is $2,595-$2,674 per week. The nurse-patient ratio on the PCU is approximately 3:1.

Requirements

  • New York RN license in good standing or active license on file at submission; NY license or proof of application required (applied date provided); licensure processing may take several weeks.
  • BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required prior to start.
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry/PCU experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience.
  • Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years required.
  • Ability to work in an acute inpatient PCU with telemetry and to float to other units as needed.
  • Must be able to start within the next week per requisition notes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care for adult PCU patients, including continuous telemetry monitoring, frequent assessments, and rapid escalation of changes in condition.
  • Administer medications and IV therapies per protocol, including insulin and cardiac drips; monitor hemodynamics and adjust care as ordered.
  • Initiate IVs, perform EKGs, manage infusions, and participate in pre/post-procedure care (e.g., post-cardiac cath) as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, other RNs, and the broader care team; participate in care planning and patient education; document thoroughly in the EPIC system.
  • Maintain patient safety and comfort, manage the unit’s telemetry caseload, and respond to emergencies per unit protocols.
  • Contribute to float coverage when assigned, while maintaining unit-specific standards (nurse-patient ratio approximately 3:1 on the PCU).
