About The Position

This is a 16-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit/Intermediate Care Unit (PCU/IMCU) with a cardiac focus in Atlanta, GA. The role involves providing direct nursing care to adult cardiac patients, administering medications and drips, managing patient care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The unit is a 28-bed facility with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:3-4, handling conditions such as STEMI, NSTEMI, and various cardiac issues. Telemetry beds may also be assigned to the unit. The position requires working night shifts with 12-hour shifts on a 2x3 schedule.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience in a facility of similar size.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Ability to work night shifts and 12-hour shifts as scheduled.
• Active RN license (appropriate to practice in the assignment location) or eligibility as applicable.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a high-acuity cardiac PCU/IMCU setting and manage telemetry patients.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care to adult cardiac patients in a PCU/IMCU, including monitoring and responding to telemetry and clinical changes.
• Administer and titrate prescribed cardiac medications and drips (e.g., Milrinone, Dobutamine, vasopressors) per orders and protocol.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans; anticipate potential complications and intervene promptly.
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and the multidisciplinary team; document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record; provide accurate handoffs during shift changes.
• Monitor for STEMI/NSTEMI pathways, manage cardiac telemetry, and ensure patient safety, infection control, and comfort.
• Educate patients and families as appropriate and coordinate with ancillary services to support discharge planning.
