About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas. The assignment is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/23/2026. The role involves providing direct clinical care to IMCU/PCU/Stepdown patients, supervising staff, monitoring patient status, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Onboarding details, including a traveler badge, will be arranged by HR.

Requirements

• Experience in IMCU/PCU/Stepdown or similar step-down settings is preferred.
• Ability to work the night shift schedule (1900–0730) on a 3x12-hour basis.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient-care documentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate care for patients and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
• Willingness to complete onboarding procedures, including traveler badge issuance as required by the facility HR department.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care to assigned patients on IMCU/PCU/Stepdown per shift, including assessment, planning, and implementation of care.
• Supervise staff to whom care is delegated and contribute to unit-level care delivery and resource management.
• Monitor patient status, implement care plans, document outcomes, and communicate changes to the charge nurse or unit leadership.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, safe nursing care and to support ongoing competency and safety initiatives.
• Maintain clinical proficiency and compliance with infection control and facility policies; participate in performance improvement activities as needed.
