About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse position for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Atlanta, GA. The assignment is for 13 weeks, starting on 09/21/2026. The role involves providing bedside RN care in a hospital-based IMCU/PCU setting with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, focusing on patients with complex conditions such as sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, CKD, TDM2, substance abuse, and encephalopathy. The nurse will initiate and monitor therapies, conduct comprehensive assessments, administer medications, manage IV lines, ensure patient safety, and collaborate with the healthcare team for care coordination and discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of IMCU/PCU or equivalent critical care nursing experience
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Current RN license to practice
  • Ability to work night shifts (12-hour) on a 4-night-per-week schedule
  • Proficiency in telemetry, IV therapy, and rapid assessment in a high-acuity environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multisystem critical care patients and heparin drips is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide bedside RN care in an IMCU/PCU with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, handling patients with sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, CKD, TDM2, substance abuse, and encephalopathy.
  • Initiate and monitor therapies, including heparin drips, IV medications, and telemetry monitoring, adjusting plans as ordered by the medical team.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, document findings, implement care plans, and escalate changes promptly to physicians.
  • Administer medications, manage IV lines and devices, ensure patient safety, and perform accurate handoffs between shifts.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, case managers, and other disciplines to coordinate care and discharge planning; provide patient and family education as appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance with nursing standards and unit protocols, participate in quality improvement activities, and respond effectively to acute changes in patient status.
