About The Position
This is a travel Registered Nurse assignment in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in Bangor, Maine. The contract is for 13 weeks, starting on 09/28/2026. The role involves providing direct patient care in a hospital PACU setting, monitoring patients, administering medications, and ensuring patient safety and infection control. The position requires strong communication and teamwork skills to support a fast-paced perioperative environment.
Requirements
- ASN required; BSN preferred
- Current Maine RN license or compact license
- BLS current or within 30 days of hire
- ACLS current or within 90 days of hire
- PALS current within 1 year
- 1–3 years preferred experience
- Ability to work in a hospital PACU setting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit under the supervision of the Unit Director and in accordance with the Maine Board of Nursing standards and hospital policies.
- Monitor patients in PACU, including vital signs, airway status, pain control, and readiness for transfer to the next care phase.
- Administer medications and interventions per policy, document care, and communicate effectively with anesthesia, surgeons, and perioperative teams.
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and emergency responsiveness; participate in shift handoffs and care coordination.
- Demonstrate teamwork and effective communication to support a fast-paced perioperative environment and multi-task as needed.
