About The Position

This is a travel temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) in York, Maine. The assignment begins on 09/14/2026 and lasts for 13 weeks. The role involves providing direct patient care to post-anesthesia patients, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, performing recovery assessments, and documenting patient status in the electronic medical record. The position requires adherence to infection control and patient safety standards, as well as effective communication with patients and families. The setting is an acute care hospital.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of Maine
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Minimum 2 years of ASU/PACU or Critical Care experience
  • Ability to work rotating day shifts with weekend call rotation in a hospital PACU/ASU setting
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical judgment in a fast-paced recovery area

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to post-anesthesia patients in PACU/ASU, aligning with recovery goals
  • Monitor vitals, oxygenation, pain, and airway status; respond to hemodynamic changes
  • Administer medications and techniques per physician orders; collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams
  • Perform recovery assessments, apply PACU scoring criteria, and facilitate safe transfers to post-anesthesia units or discharge
  • Document patient status, interventions, and care plans in the electronic medical record; ensure accurate handoffs
  • Maintain infection control, patient safety, and effective communication with patients and families
