About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in an Operating Room (OR) setting in Fortuna, CA. The role involves OR circulation and PACU/recovery duties, requiring endoscopy experience. The patient population includes adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. The unit has 3 rooms and requires collaboration with other departments. The assignment is a temporary, travel assignment with a duration of several weeks.

Requirements

Active RN license in California; compact state license in hand at time of submission
Endoscopy experience required
OR circulating and PACU/recovery experience
Minimum 1 year of relevant OR/PACU experience
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
Ability to work in a rural, multi-age patient population (Adolescents, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics)
Two professional references covering the last year within the past three years
Willingness to float to nearby sister facilities if required
On-call and holiday commitments as described

Responsibilities

Circulating in the OR and providing PACU/recovery care for a range of general surgical cases
Manage perioperative responsibilities for procedures including laparoscopic/open general surgery, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, tonsil/adenoid, total joint replacement, VATS, and pediatric general surgery
Support endoscopic procedures (EGD/colonoscopy) and immediate post-procedure recovery
Monitor patients’ vital signs, including cardiac monitoring, respond to perioperative codes, and implement safety protocols
Maintain sterile technique, prepare and stock rooms, and coordinate with anesthesia, circulating team, and support services
Communicate with the healthcare team and participate in handoffs to ensure continuity of care
