About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse specializing in the Operating Room (OR) at a Short Term Acute Care Hospital in San Luis Obispo, California. The contract is for 10 weeks, starting on 09/21/2026, with guaranteed 40 hours per week. The role involves rotating 16-hour day shifts, including call responsibilities, and requires experience in ortho, neuro, and trauma specialties, as well as proficiency with EPIC. Requirements

Active RN license in the state of practice (California)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS and PALS required
Minimum 1 year of operating room experience; 2+ years preferred
OR experience in orthopedics, neurosurgery, and trauma
EPIC experience required
ADN or ASN in Nursing required; BSN preferred
Ability to work in a high-demand perioperative environment and participate in rotating schedules including call

Responsibilities

Circulate in the OR during surgical procedures and support anesthesia providers and the surgical team.
Maintain sterile technique and ensure safe handling of instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning, pre-operative checks, and safety assessments.
Participate in pre-, intra-, and post-procedure planning and nursing care per department criteria.
Safely manage biohazardous materials and document care activities in the facility’s electronic health record (EPIC).
